The Talons of Weng-Chiang was broadcast from February 26th to April 2nd 1977. Even though it proved his only appearance in the series, thanks to the combined contributions of Robert Holmes, David Maloney, John Bloomfield, and Deep Roy, Mr Sin still ranks among the most memorable and frightening monsters ever to appear in Doctor Who.

The dummy's final use on Talons was during the climactic fight scene with the Doctor. Tom Baker is seen here rehearsing his struggle with the Mr Sin dummy during the studio recording in February 1977.

My Doctor Who prop/costume collection may not be the largest, but I suspect it is the luckiest! Discovering that I had unknowingly bought the 1960s Cybercontroller costume was strange enough; to find another original monster is quite bizarre. For that monster to also be number one on my "most wanted" list makes it all the more incredible.

It only remains to reveal how Mr Sin looks today....
